I pre-ordered the Nikon P1000 a few weeks ago and just got notified by Amazon that it wont ship until the end of September. Meanwhile, I look on YouTube and see a shit load of Punjabis already received their P1000s. Can someone tell me what the fuck is going on. Has the West really fallen that far behind?

These fuckers are understocking everything in their collection lately. Ordered a regular uhs-ii card, and they took a month to send it to me, stating some bs not available reason. You're basically ordering your gear from chinese factory that will be put on a container ship to get to you.

OP here. I cancelled my order with Amazon and found the last one left at a local photography store.

The camera is shit. I had the P900 which by all means was a home run. The P900 did 83x, this P1000 is supposed to do 125x, but it just doesn't feel like it. Watch the p1000 vids on youtube, it's hardly distinguishable from p900 vids. Yea it has 4K but what good even is 4K when you're filming from a distance. Kinda let down. Probably good for some homos that like to do flower or bird photography. p900 was better

I want to buy p1000, should I do it? purely for the zoom. I read a ton of comments on some photography forum that reviewed p1000, a lot of people say its crap especially at 3000mm, you only get like 1mp efective resolution or some crap, obviously that not good. Should I just buy p900? Its exactly the same sensor and going all the way is pointless, so 60x or 70x should be enough, its also half price of p1000

It's 2000mm-equivalent vs 3000mm-equivalent, despite the large numbers involved it's not a huge difference, just 1.5x (like going from 200mm to 300mm).

Any raw samples of this thing anywhere on the net? I think it's make or break for p1000. If they're at least half decent, something that equals interchangeable 300-600mm there will be a place for it, even in the prosumer market. Worse, and it's hypeseller for the dumb.

OP here, i've had some more time to play around with it. It's a good camera, but you are limited simply by the fact that a camera with such a long fucking lens is impossible to balance and stabilize.
