I stand on highways with large format cameras and wave to people if they look at me weird. So far they just either ignore me afterwards or nod/wave back. But I’m also often trespassing on farms or private land in the south so I need to not look threatening.

There’s a spot in the mall where people tend to take pictures of models/pictures of people who want pics for LinkedIn it whatever. Just a literally normal part of the mall, with tall high rises behind it. I like walking past with my camera and taking pictures of the guy taking pictures of the model. The model never cares, but the guys with the camera tends to give me looks that kill. Still have yet to get one back that was actually a good pic, I’d imagine I eventually will.

I got the cops called on my by the Port Authority the other day. Funny to me that the Port Authority didn't do anything because I wasn't on their property and they can't tell me to stop taking pictures of boats and cranes. Actual police officers would never stop to talk to me of their own volition. The officer explained that the areas I'm shooting are "very secure" but never implied that I can't photograph them from a public area. It's just beyond me why the loading and unloading of goods and raw materials is so "secure" that people can't even look now. I can get not wanting people trespassing but taking pictures of shit is not a fucking crime. This 9/11 paranoia scape-goat has gone on long enough. It's been over seventeen years, and I'm sick and fucking tired of it.

I live in a major city and its horrible, I cant get good landscapes or in fact any landscapes, there is always people everywhere, local park is absolute shittier (and also full of people). Anything interesting to shoot is usually private and requires permission.

hopefully in 1-2 years time I can move to country side away from all this crap. Just go to the forest, enjoy fresh air and take some pictures, peace and quiet

No one even notices a mirrorless camera hanging on your side and when you take a photo it's even less awkward than phone snaps because it falls to to the perfect middle ground of looking like a legit photographer with a good reason but not too tryhard.
