Just read up on it a bit. It's an actual comatose-like state set on by psychological trauma. Most likely related to pervasive refusal syndrome. It has also popped up in Naura apparently.

There is an exhibition in a gallery here for the World Press Photo competition every year, displaying all the winners and nominees. If you're close to Vienna I'd recommend checking it out.
I saw one picture there that had to do with gender dysphoria, of a person just after sex reassignment surgery. Maybe there was something else incudling homosexuality? I don't remember.
The winner (>>3368475) was really impressive.
Pic related was pretty good as well.
I was also a big fan of all the nature and animal photography.
