Serious question: would you consider a Sony any NEX-C3 a compact camera? It has interchangeable lenses and an APS sensor, but it is a very very small camera when paired with a pancake, which is how I always use it

It's not perfect but, for my needs, it shits on every other small camera out there. It's a notebook, it's for snapshits with friends and it will also do the business when I don't have a 5Div with me. Pic related is an exported raw with no processing

Nope, also have a rangefinder, SLR and TLR

depends on the compact but in general I use them as EDC snapshitting machines, take them to places I don't want to lug around a larger camera or for parties.
XA3 I use for street usually with B&W films. Zone focusing is great for street and it's super quiet.
R1s I did the 24mm wide angle mod so it's my wide boi, I've only used it a few times but it's super small and the wider lens is great for party snaps.
DL Super Mini Zoom is my edc snapshitting machine. built like a fucking tank and the 28mm-56mm lens covers all the focal lengths I like. The lens is super sharp, probably the sharpest lens in any compact I've ever used.

I rarely use my Canon PowerShot S110. It's not my only camera, but it is my backup camera, since I take pictures for money sometimes. My main camera is an Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mk II. Despite being small and light compared to other cameras, it's still an ILC so I take a small bag with me for my 3 lenses.Before leaving my house I stop and think about any photo opportunities I may have before taking or leaving the Olympus based on hassle/weight and stuff. I mostly take snapshots with my $200 phone (Honor 7x) because I always have it with me or more deliberate photos with my Olympus because I want to use the best camera I have when I take a photo.

Compact cameras usually lack manual/semi manual exposure settings but the Canon S110 has them.

Compact cameras can give excellent image quality while being about the size of your phone. Phones still beat compacts for being with you 99% of the time. Depending on how good your phone's camera is, you may get acceptable image quality from your phone.

I still think compacts have a place, as they don't distract you from photo taking with notifications and phone calls. You're also less likely to lose the images as your camera can only be used to store images, so you may be more likely to back them up.

Most notable photos I took recently with my compact was a small concert at a local church. The band was a 5 person (I think) girl band called Las Fenix that played Hispanic music. I regretted not taking my better but larger/heavier camera to the concert.
