>>3378293It is just an aesthetic. Much like the difference between film and digital. It is just one more tool in your tool box. Albeit, a difficult tool to use correctly. It has only been recently that you could get cheap commercial versions from a few places. In the past, pinhole photography was always a diy venture. It is still for most people. Unto itself, there's a bit of magic in that for the people making and using them.
Due to the materials used and methods to make the pinhole, the results can be very organic. No two diy pinholes are alike in that.
Take this image, I have like 20-25 lenses and several pinholes, yet this pinhole is the only tool I have to make this particular aesthetic without using heavy post processing. Even with heavy post processing using photos from other sources it is still really hard to get it to look like this.
