>>3378004No, my last two purchases from Japanese were:
Bought a pen FT, the listing explicitly said the meter worked. The meter was off by 5 stops. When I asked for a return, the seller claimed I was using it wrong and setting the wrong film speed (I set it at box speed). Took several days of arguing for him to accept the return and he would only partially reimburse me for return shipping.
Bought a Pen mount lens from a different seller. The lens was “top optical mint” with the listing explicitly saying no scratches.
It showed up with big ass scratches on the rear element that you didn’t even have to shine a light on to see. Again, it took several rounds of arguing (he said we just have “different expectations”) before he agreed to a partial refund.
A lot of them explicitly omit stuff too. A different lens a while back had a ton of oil on the aperture blades. The description said something like perfect condition or whatever but specifically omitted any pictures or explicit description of the state of the aperture blades. Stupidly I forgot to ask before buying, so that one’s partly my fault.
But in general, they seem to have absolutely no problem omitting or outright lying about defects.
