>>3386130Experienced film user here, processed my own colour, can mix colour chemicals from scratch components (not from kits), can make a recipe to erase much fogging on E-6. Can make a b&w recipe that makes the film sharper, worked especially well on FP4+ (or even just an additive that works equally well in both Rodinal and Xtol, improving resolution to the same degree).
Same reason I sold my RB67 before moving back from Japan applies here
>Bulky>Heavy>Supporting gear adds to that bulk and weight>Boxes of film that you want to keep cold, esp while travelling>Adding a digital system to take with you adds to this even more>Must take tripod with you if you're going to shoot any dimmer than bright overcast/cloudy, which you'll definitely want to do>The slow down your shooting thing is a meme; sure learning to make a good photo is great, but being forced into slowness isn't, the inconvenience makes you miss many great shots>Same as above with lack of AF, not so much of an issue for landscape only>Ongoing costs>Fucking awful ISO vs noise/grain performance which is what pushes us to into bulky and heavy medium format gear, fullframe (35mm) is just too fucking awful unless T-Max 100 or Retro 80s. Ektar is fine enough but resolves poorly, Fuji C200 resolves waaay better but super grainy, Provia and Velvia are okay for low contrast range landscapes but better in medium formatFilm is a fucking cluster fuck, ends up being way more expensive, and people go gearfaggy but in a way where none of them know what they're talking about at all.
I feel like you could shoot good art nudes on T-Max 100 or Retro 80s with a nice 85mm or 50mm though in 35mm format.
Carrying all that shit around makes you want to go out less without realising it, not do as much etc.
What do you want out of it? The odd compliment that week of "hey that's a pretty cool camera!" or do you care about the actual photos you take?
