>>3389705yep, the XD is top notch on the build quality and feels all around solid. it's all metal after all. the x-500 is on the plastic side but it's not cheap feeling at all and it's easier to carry around because of it's lightweight. ofc it has a cloth shutter with tend to get some problems over time, which is kind of rare either way and are easily fixed with maintenance.
as for the capacitor issue, it's a $1 / 1 min fix and then you don't worry about it forever.
>>3389728I've replaced leaking magnet release capacitors on pretty much all X series minoltas from Japan, China and Mayalsia, X-300/370, X-500/570, X-700, X-300s and X-9. (except the X-600, never had one of them). It's always the very same Nichicon brand 4v capacitor. it's just the age of the capacitor that makes it fail. I even replace them on working cameras to keep them in perfect shape for the next decades.
the X-700 is a bit harder to work with. it has 2 capacitors, the classic one in the bottom that tends to crap out (but terminals flipped in regards to other X cameras), and one below the top cover that requires a bit more effort to reach.
as for the XD, minolta used some weird leather for that model so it's pretty rare to find one without shrunken leather, evern if the camera is in perfect shape. but oh man, custom leather XD cameras are sexy as fuck.
>using my Minolta a7I'm jelly af anon. always wanted one of them.
>>3389760that's a pretty sweet lens, and quite rare to find.
and yea, I know that camera very well. put some SR44 batteries on it and have fun m8.
to get the P mode to work correctly, you have to set the lens to it's minimum aperture, which is labeled in green (the 22 in your lens). there's a mechanical lock on the lens to keep it locked there but it's not required for it to work. otherwise the green P led in the viewfinder will be blinking as a warning.
