>>3391287not to discredit your post as your points are legitimate concerns that may bother some people, but to address them from my personal perspective based on my experience with this camera:
>~28mm equiv lensit does have a built-in digital crop setting for 35mm which you can assign to one of the physical buttons on the camera. the hit to the resolution isn't that noticeable. in fact i had mine set to 3:4 aspect crop and would take most of my pics at 35mm, which overall was a relatively big crop, but i would occasionally take identical shots with 645 portra and compare them and they were honestly nearly identical. which is all i cared about.
>-Battery lifekeep a couple spares in your pocket. if youre used to shooting film youre used to keeping an extra couple rolls in your pocket. batteries take up less space and last longer.
>-For the price you could buy a DSLR with wider dynamic rangedefeats the purpose of the camera.
>-No viewfindersucks. my second-biggest gripe with the camera.
>-f/2.8yeah, would love an f/2 but the lens is so great in every other regard that i can look past it. high iso is pretty good to make up for it though so it didnt really bother me too much.
my #1 issue with the camera was its durability. mine died after 10k clicks (GR1, maybe the GR2/3 are better), and according to the internet it succumbed to fairly common issues. ricoh also does not service this camera in-house so id have to get it fixed by a third party, and the cost is not worth it considering the cost of a replacement.
overall if i decided that i want another digital camera, which i dont at the moment, it would be whichever GR is currently out. even only lasting me 3 years and 10k pics it was well worth it and i'd buy it again even if i knew its replacement would have the same fate.
