A sony lens only performs like it should on a sony body, every company that tests sony lenses on sony bodies say they are the best in the world, everyone that uses a generic testing rig has massive issues and clearly posts photos that look nothing like they would on an actual sony camera.
Lens rentals blog showed how inept they are with regards to this when they posted a shot from their testing rig that clearly shows the left hand of the image out of focus, but the right in focus, and they decided that was a "real" defect,despite never seeing this effect in any photos taken on an actual Sony camera.
