If you only had 300 dollars for a digital camera, what would you get?
Asking for a friend who wants to get more into digital photography as well as shooting some travel videos on occasion but doesn't have a big budget.

noted, that's what I remember hearing a lot 5 years ago or so when I started as well. I was wondering if it was still the goto entry level camera.
I don't know if they actually want something that large though since they're just starting and they're going to be traveling a lot so if people have mirrorless suggestions as well lmk.

Rebel like others have said. SL1 or SL2 are the smaller models to be easier for travel

Nikon D3300. (I guess it's now the 3400, but if you can find some retailer who still has the 3300, it's a bit better than it's replacement.)

Spend a little more and get the original X100.

Holy shit, you're right! I never bothered to check ebay because I saw one in my country selling for 400. Literally how tho? It has only 12 megapickels and the lens mount is dead.

It was a good camera ahead of its time. Samsung were killing it in mirrorless before they pulled out completely, especially compared to the earlier Sony Nex e-mount cameras and Nikon 1.

EOS M100 + the kit lens
or sell the kit and get the 22mm

Just did this about 2 months ago and love it, dual Pixel AF is a dream, shots are sharp, touch screen is (most of the time) excellent. Highly recommended.

Cheap chinese TTL flash(Triopo or Yongnuo) - 45$
Used Canon 18-55 IS ll - 50$
Used Canon 55-250mm IS version ll - 70$
Some used old not completely plastic tripod - 20$

Camera with a lens:
Used Canon 40D and 18-135mm STM lens

Body only: used a6000

If he deosn't want to buy used gear:
Kodak PIXPRO S-1 with 12-45mm and 42.5-160mm
