This would not be a ".....popular......" remark to make on say, /toy/, but just my two cents.
I suppose the only argument to make then is that one sees a collection of tools on a shelf that are probably still in usable condition, yet are only there for their aesthetic:

They _only_ have their aesthetic, meaning old cameras superceded by superior mediums and sensors have less and less useful purpose with time, leaving only their aesthetic.
Which, as with toys, gives them reason to admire them on a shelf.
