Payment really depends on the way people purchase your images. Subscription purchases get you like $0.24 on adobe, shutterstock actually doesn't pay terribly compared to the others. I uploaded ~150 images on Adobe, Shutterstock, Alamy, and iStock in September.
Since then, I've made $13.90 on Shutterstock, $2.31 on iStock, $4.27 on Adobe, and $0.00 on Alamy. Shutterstock pays the best of the bunch and has the most users, it seems.
Really, this isn't any sort of livable income. It's more of a 'Well, my photos aren't doing anything besides sitting pretty on my Hard Drive, would be cool if I got some beer money every few months from them."
