>>3415064I live in Mexico and i'm a poorfag by american standards, but recently the photography gig has been doing pretty good, so i'm looking into investing on Video-oriented gear to step my game up.
I'm an amateur when it comes to video gear. When people requested video, we shot it on DSLR's, mostly Nikon D7100's and recently a D7500 that a friend sold us for the equivalent of ~640 dollars. I've heard many say that's not the way to go for video and that i should invest in a more video dedicated camera. So here i am deciding what camera should i buy.
The only thing that's setting me back is the high cost of entry. I'm eyeing the BMPCC4K because it's not grossly overpriced, but as a primarily Nikon shooter, i have to take many additional expenses into account, like proprietary batteries and storage along with lenses and other accesories. All of this got me into an internal dilemma:
Do i REALLY need a dedicated video camera? What advantages does it offer beyond what my DSLR already does?
On the one hand, since i have Dual Citizenship, i often get hired for jobs outside the country, so i kinda do want to impress. But i feel that it's been fine so far and haven't had any issues. Will taking the leap improve my footage enough to make it worth the expenses? Should i just save even more and get the Sony AIII or something? Would a Panasonic G85 be enough? It's just so tiresome.
