Wow, thought this thread was going to die like a week ago. Appreciate it guys.
>>3420068The funny thing is, all the pictures you identified as boring are the ones that I really liked when I first took them (i.e. before I saw what they actually looked like). Totally thought they would be sweet when I got the film back. Then I developed them, and was kind of underwhelmed. But I was already emotionally invested, because I remembered the moment I took them.
Just looking after the fact, it's the pictures I don't remember taking that end up being better. I think I need to be less invested in the "idea" of the picture and try to look at them for what they are.
>>3420162I have no idea where the weird aura in this one came from. My guess is the lighting + vent on a nearby building. But yeah, that's straight out of the camera.
>>3420164Really hear you on the portraiture comment. Its something I don't have an intuition for, or at least haven't developed yet. Always comes off as stilted.
As for the headstone pics.... silent is a really good way to describe what I was going for, even if I didn't really crystallize the thought like that. My execution was off this time, but I'm going to try to be more mindful of that concept for that type of stuff.
