easily my favourite, pastel colors work really good here. good sense for black levels. i like that you finally attacked the texture problem on her skin and didnt try to keep the saturation. very fragile, elegant and graceful. would not keep the vignette though, doesn't fit the painterly style.

Its an editing thread. If you dont think shes cute enough for your level, assume its perspective and lighting thats off and make her pretty again. Theres at least one edit here where she has mysteriously dropped the 10lbs that the camera would be blamed for putting on.

i didn't keep the file so i'll have to just kind of guess here, but i started in camera raw with some basic stuff i usually do (lose some contrast, shadows up/highlights down a bit,some dehaze and clarity), did some noise reduction, i forget whether i desaturated the purples or shifted them towards blue (maybe both?), tweaked the luminance/saturation of the other colours a bit too, opened the file at that point and did my usual adjustment layers (think i went towards the green a bit in the colour balance to get away from the purple cast, may or may not have done the same thing in camera raw with the white balance slider), did some burning on the snow/ledge/background to make it a bit more contrasty, did some dodging on the girl to make her stand out a bit and the brighter parts of the snow, made a selection of just the ledge and the snow and did a hue/saturation adjustment to desaturate some of the blues/magentas but i wasnt really happy with it so i'm pretty sure in the end i ended up doing a b+w on that selection and blending it at a lower opacity to get more of what i wanted

kinda surprised i actually remember that much of what i did lol

honestly not bad for a first try, the brightest parts of the images (snow/her face) are forcefully dark and its awkward, its ok to have the sun be really bright in a photo because psychologically it makes sense, same with having a subject lit by a bright light

I wouldn't shoot at this ISO for these shots on that camera. I think it's too high for an apsc camera. It leaves the images too noisy. Having owned many digital cameras, I understand that it can be hard to see the limitations of the camera/lens on the screen/evf. It looks fine on locations, but you come home to unwanted noise. It may not being a big deal if you're only sharing them online, but when it comes time to print, you may find yourself limited. So my three recommendations:

1) invest in more lighting so you can shoot at lower ISOs or;
2) invest in a larger sensor so you can shoot at high ISOs or;
3) invest in faster lenses so you can shoot at lower ISOs

I enjoy theses threads. It makes me feel slightly less unproductive. Keep them coming.

yeah that was the last shoot i did with the Fuji, it was my fill in camera till i got my D750, which is a low light monster for nikon

i also do plan to use more lighting, right now im rocking a single wescott ice light with some color gels, god damn strobes are pricey

From where I'm standing it looks more like a severely underexposed image. Yes, camera with higher ISO performance would surely help but it's not fixing the basic issue with the weird exposure.
If it would be better exposed we wouldn't need to push it so in post and the highish ISO wouldn't be so noticeable.

f/125 and f/4? Lower that shutter speed, one stop slower shouldn't be a problem and open that aperture more. If not possible, invest in a better lens before you invest in a better camera. Get a "fast" prime, or atleast something around f/2.

That will probably work great :) In the meantime, IS on that kit lens is at least okay, might allow you to slow down shutter speed even more if you don't already use it.
