>>3418092> M5 is dead and eos are dead, canon just released a new mountSony hasn't released a new E-mount (i.e., not full-frame FE) body since 2016, and the last E-mount lens they released that wasn't an f/slow normal zoom (i.e., a variation on the theme of kit lens) was in 2013.
... which isn't to say that the APS-C e-mount is dead, just pointing out that there's been a lot more recent activity on EF-M and EF-S than on E. They very well might die out in the future, but they're certainly not dead yet.
> Canon sensors suck compared to sony onesImage quality is basically indistinguishable. You can see a little difference at 100% if you're looking at otherwise identical shots (and not always in Sony's favor), but you'll never see a difference in real world photography.
> hence why they are used by fuji, nikon, hasselblad, phase one and pentaxThat's more a reflection on the fact that Canon isn't in the business of selling sensors to third parties whereas Sony is.
> best mirrorless battery efficiencyThis only applies to the A7RII and A7III; the battery technology hasn't trickled down to the lower end bodies yet, so they're pretty much on par with each other (and the 77D he's looking at, being a DSLR, has battery life on par with those top-end Sony bodies)
> best colour scienceThis only applies if you only shoot JPEG with default settings.
>>3418096> Why is the a6000 so cheapBecause it was released in 2014 and Sony keeps it as a current product because they keep being able to make it cheaper and cheaper. In general, cameras have been "good enough" for several years now.
The A6000 *is* a really good camera, and on par with the M5 and 77D. For 500 pounds less you'd probably be better off buying it. I personally prefer the controls on Canons (haven't used the M5 or 77D in particular, but I own similar Canon bodies and an A6000 and vastly prefer how the Canons operate), but I don't know that I five-hundred-pounds-and-an-extra-lens worth of prefer Canon
