Since you have no idea what you're doing, I'd recommend getting whatever the latest Canon Digital Rebel is, plus the 18-55 kit lens, plus an EF 50mm f/1.8 STM. The 50mm lens will give you great blurred-background portraits if you shoot it around f/2.8.
