How does a company so successfully manage to have its customers effectively eating out of their hands?

Leica fanboys are more ravenous and delusional than users of any of the big three camera manufacturers. And, I refuse to believe it's just because of the "luxury" aspect of the branding, Hasselblad users aren't nearly as bad. So what's the deal? Their full frame sensors aren't even that good and their glass is more or less right on par with Zeiss optics.
