>>3430765“Best” would take me far too long to figure out, but here’s a photo thread I posted recently:
>>3429533My point is that it seems unlikely to me that someone would be able to comfortably spend a significant amount of time shooting without using some sort of strap (or having a camera bag, which is basically the same thing). It’s not a weight thing, it’s just that there’s a reason we evolved to have two hands—it’s super useful. If you can’t have both hands free, how do you undo your fly to pee? How do you swap lenses if you don’t have a table or something? How do you check something on your phone between shots? How do you get your wallet out to buy lunch? How do you, in general, live your goddamn life while also being a photographer? Not having a strap on your camera would be like walking around all day with one hand cut off.
Like, it makes perfect sense if you only take pictures of shit on your desk, or if you go out to take like three pictures and then immediately put your camera back in your car. But straight up not understanding why someone might want to have a camera strap suggests that you don’t make photography a significant part of your life. Which, sure, would be fine—I don’t think everyone should be quite such a photography nerd as I am—except you came in hot with that “the only reason I can think of for needing a strap is if you’re weak and homosexual” bullshit, so I responded in kind.
