I said fuck it and got a D850 because the D810 was about 4 years old at that point, and the D850 did a bit more for the same price I paid for a new D810. But I considered just getting a refurbed D180 for a while, it's so fucking good. Were it not for the layout being exactly the same, the exclusion of an annoying popup flash, backlit buttons, a tilting LCD and the fact that my D180 fucking died on me, I wouldn't have went for the 850 at all. It's as amazing as the D810, perhaps even more so, but I wouldn't justify upgrading to it if you have a working 810.
