thank you. that is pretty much exactly how the raw file looked directly from the camera. any editing at all made it look oversaturated and overdone so I just left it alone.

i still don't understand this comment, as neither of the above are true. the depth of field is just really shallow. it's a high dynamic range scene with a bright background and dark foreground shot in program mode which chose a low f stop.

i also revisited that edit

F/2.5 is not a wide enough aperture for extremely shallow depth of field at get-the-whole-boat-in-frame distances. The left edge/corner is blurred in a way that suggests misaligned optics rather than motion blur or shallow DoF.

Could just be motion blur presenting weirdly, though.
