I have owned a X100, X100S and the F model from Fuji. I first got an X100 while I was in Afghanistan working as a combat photographer. Lugging around my full frame cannon and Nikon bodies with heavy zoom L glass and a big prime on the Nikon fucking sucked. They constantly got in my way, imagine having dual DSLRs hanging off you, in body armor, with a rifle, ammo, pistol, med equipment, radio gear, etc. Sucked. I needed something compact, around 20-35mm, sealed body, and quiet. The X100 was a godsend to my workflow. It allowed me to take images of people or situations that I'd never have been able to with a big DSLR that can piss people off, especially in sensitive situations. I got a very nice leather case for it with a steel plate on the bottom and a custom shutter button and it looked beautiful, absolutely nothing about that setup said anything short of professional. Each update to the X100 line has been awesome. My first gen X100 took a beating while deployed but the images it captured have still been my favorites to this day. They have soul. I used the X100 line while backpacking in Japan as well and it performed amazing in shrines, or in low light street work as no one really noticed, it let me snap images very fast and quietly. Less moving parts means easier handheld low light work.
The X100 line is the only Fuji's I've used that aren't super old so I'm not too sure about other models. But the X100 line is very professional, respectable, and has some well made accessories. After shooting with dozens of bodies from Nikon, Sony, Leica and Cannon, the Fuji has been my go to for weekend trips, outings on the town, or sensitive moments. Its price and quality make it a no brainer as well. Closest competitor is going to be from Leica but some 5-8k+ more, the value is hard to beat from Fuji.
That's my real world 2¢ regarding my time with Fuji.
