I want to get sort of a beater camera, something that I can take places and not be too upset if it gets damaged, but also one that can take a decent enough photo. I don't care about video.

I was looking at the Nikon D5000, which goes on eBay right now for about $150, but which seems to still be able to take an acceptable photo. If you had $150 for a beater, what would you buy?
