Hey /p/,

I'm heading out tomorrow for a walk; wanted to take my d5200 out of retirement.

Is there anything you guys wished you knew back when you first started out? (example may be screwing around more with iso, framing pictures better, etc.) I'm just trying to get into the swing of things again.

That's not how it works. A subject in and of itself might not be interesting, but the photographer can make it so by 'seeing it' in his own way and managing to communicate it to the rest of us through comp, lighting, the technical settings fit to encapsulate his vision and even (although in most cases to a lesser degree) editing. Camera choice isn't that important, but a photographer should know what gear best compliments his vision. And whatever the gear, one should always know it through and through until it becomes an appendix to his body. One photographer might walk past a seemingly mundane subject and another might render it into a masterpiece. And the former isn't necessarily less of a photographer for it. Otherwise we'd all be taking the exact same photos.
