>>3450450I tend to avoid getting people in the shots - I'm not much good at keeping a natural feel to the photos unless I'm out of sight with a telephoto. Pic related - (Last year) I tried to catch the lookout without him realising I was taking photos. The photo looked natural enough, but it bothers me a bit that I didn't get to position him for a clearer silhouette.
It t is something to work on in future though, thanks!
Just a bit of background if you still have those questions in mind.
King Edward Point is the capital of South Georgia and a permanent base for the British Antarctic Survey (BAS). It houses the South Georgia government buildings too.
Typically there are 40-60 people there, including scientists, governors, fisheries investigators, and the tradesmen necessary to keep the base functioning. In the summer there are volunteers who run the museum for visitors.
The island has no permanent residents, so everything is brought in from the outside world to support the people stationed there.
We were at KEP picking up some scientific cargo that BAS had inadvertently mixed up with theirs, and calibrating some of our equipment for the upcoming expedition to the South Sandwich Islands.
Also, if anyone else has some dramatic scenery to post then please feel free
