Spent two hours strolling around my home town taking photos. Had some good ones in there, too. Come home to this.

Everything's fucked. Could view the photos on the camera before plugging into PC so wtf even happened?

Why do I even bother, /p/?

Yes, most probably it is. Throw it out and buy a new one, from reputable source and top brand.
I use Sandisk and didn't have any problem with it yet. I also use the full size cards instead of the microSD and adapter.

It's a cheap-ass Verbatim SD Card I've had since 2012 so I don't know what I expected really lol

Can you view the photos on your camera after unplugging it from your PC?

Try uploading a few of the files to MediaFire or ZippyShare or Mega or something so we can get a look at what exactly is wrong with the files.

How old is your SD card? What brand and model?

Are the contacts clean? Is your SD card port clean? Did you try restarting your PC?

Not anymore :/ It says "Cannot display this file" now.

use a data recovery program like photorec.
Ive had luck with that in the past when the embeded jpegs get wrecked.

also try opening with photoshop by itself.

Samsung have breddy good cards nowadays. Sandisk, as other anon mentioned. Sony, probably. Just don't jew out with some stuff like silicon power or something like that. 30-50$ is not that much for something that serves you for years and minimize risk of corrupted files.
Here, for example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_solid-state_drive_manufacturers Look for companies that can produce flash memory on their own.
