It was seen as jew, gay and depraved art by general public. As something that nationalism was explicitly against, it was a fuel that, in a large way, helped kindle the flame of nationalism. No wonder that the artists were the first to fall in the purges. No guilt on their side, jet their work, and their lifestyle, were of fault. Proponents of it today, wish you to accept lies that it's a valued art form just because of this opposition, when in fact it is depraved, something that should be avoided less the right options rise again. Futile fight, I know, since that's exactly what's happening right now. A decade or two, and we'll see burnings again.
