Does Portra 800 have the same reciprocity failure as 400?
I've read that 400 has the same failure as 160 so I was wondering if 800 has the same but I can't find any information anywhere.

I have never even considered buying Portra 800. It's obscenely expensive. I don't think you'll find many others here who use it.

Interestingly, Kodak doesn't give reciprocity charts for their colour films.

With Portra 800 I'd go for half a stop up to 10sec metered, 1 stop up to 30sec metered and 2 stops at one minute. At 10 min and more, definitely 3+ stops. How long of an exposure are you gonna need?

If you have some data about Portra 400 reciprocity, then apply the same correction+some (i guess +½ stop), since faster films have worse reciprocity.

I used Portra 800 on my last vacation. It's kinda expensive, but it's neat to have a fast film at hand. I'll see if I can dig up some pics I took, but the lab scans are pretty awful, I'm looking into buying my own neg scanner.

I 'member not too long ago there was a 1600 speed film from Kodak. I liked that one despite the grain.

Portra 800 is one of my favorite films. It costs more than 400, but for me the extra latitude and low light capabilities are worth the price. Try it out some time.

I haven't ever tried it for exposures longer than 1s, so I can't speak to the reciprocity, but I love it for shooting hand-held around dusk.

It doesn’t, it includes the specific emulsion.
Reciprocity is a characteristic of the *specific* emulsion, like spectral sensitivity, since every product uses different sensitisers and dyes.
So you get the reciprocity graph from the manufacturer and that’s all there is to it.

In principle, every film has unique reciprocity and faster films suffer more than slower. If a couple different films happen to have the same reciprocity, that’s a coincidence.
