And every other android supporting the api has that functionality that was originally created back in 2014.
And no it really isn't impressive, the x100f will still shit on the pixel 3 and any other phone for that matter when it comes to nighttime.

Phone low light modes are just marketing bullshit. The truth is there's no way around the fact that the sensor is so small which is why you're seeing more phones add bigger sensors now. There's only so much you can do with the lens itself and most are already at f1.8 now. The sensor size is the bottleneck.

Why did you sell the x100? I'm actually thinking of buying one. I have a ricoh gr II already and I was thinking that this could be a great companion with a fixed 35mil.
Im thinking of buying the first version since I dont really know if I need all the new stuff they put in the layer models.

I dont own one of these cameras but its one of the reason I feel a lot of people have dedicated devices like cameras even though we carry phones that can do a lot of things.

I have 4 PCs for example. This because I use one for video and photo editing and web browsing, one for gaming, one for typing papers while at my uni, and one to just fuck around with when I feel like doing tech experiments.

For me dedicated devices allow me to focus on what I am doing without getting distracted, because I am easily distracted.

Like, I mean, the advantages of something like an X100 vs a phone are pretty self-evident, but that’s not one.

The JPEGs you get out straight out of the X100 series will be superior to anything you get out of any phone. So being able to transfer those images across with one tap then upload them wherever is obviously a huge plus.

Not to mention you can transfer photos across and edit them on Lightroom mobile or Snapseed on your phone. I've done that a few times when I'm on holiday or on the road, it's really liberating.

Obviously I'm still all for carrying a separate camera if anything just for the low light performance and ergonomics.

It's surprisingly tiring to hold a phone and take lots of photos and you encounter lots of situations where you wouldn't really dare hold a phone but would be perfectly comfortable holding a dedicated camera due to much more solid grip you have over it

I am a 50mm focal length fanboy. The 35mm is too wide for me. The digital teleconverter on the X100F is impressive but not enough, I needed native 50mm. Unfortunately that doesn't come is a truly compact form :(

This. My original x100 is still my favorite camera to use. The only thing that makes me second think bringing it is a lack of wireless connection. I use Polarr to edit 90% of my photos, and would like to more easily share what I've taken.

Sure I can. I just don't do that particularly often. I actually use a micro SD with an adapter into the camera, and more often just pop that micro SD into my phone or chromebook. It's just that takes a certain mental effort that a wireless transfer doesn't. Not a real excuse, I know, but it's still a hurdle sometimes.
I'm at the point where I have so many unedited photos on the camera that I would rather take a film camera out.

I had the 808 and while it took better photos than other smartphones, using it as a camera was a pain. Nokia was headed in the right direction when they had an accessory grip for the 1020 I think it was but the 1020 was painfully slow. I'd be all over an updated 808 with an accessory grip though.
