Fuji X-T1. Cheap when bought refurb/used, weather sealed and rugged, all the features you'd ever need, WiFi connectivity so you can transfer images across to smartpones. Thanks to regular firmware updates it has barely aged since 2014 and even had some autofocus revamps. Definitely the closest thing we have to the Thinkpad.

Panasonic is the real answer. No hipster brand fag following, no nonsense tech, all in one lens options, flawless build quality, cheap, rugged, and it just works. They're smart man cameras.

When I was at the Edinburgh festival last year I saw tons of Canon, some Nikon, a lot of old guys with bridge cameras, a handful of people with high end compacts like the Fuji X100, then only a few Sony A6*** and other mirrorless. It's weird how Canikon still dominate so hard.

They dominate so hard because dipshits who want a camera but can't be fucked to do even the slightest bit of research will pop down to WalMart and buy a Rebel T3i or a Powershot and then say they bought a "professional" camera.

If you go literally anywhere that requires actual professional cameras you'll notice a fairly even split between the three brands (with a slight advantage to Canon because of all the older generation legacy shooters with $50k worth of glass who can't be fucked to sell it and switch systems).

5D MKIII is certainly the answer.

Been using mine for 5 years straight. Clients don't complain, and I don't see a reason to upgrade. I believe I could get another 2 years out of it easily.

I've yet to have any sort of issue with it besides my USB port being a bit finicky from tethering so much.
