Anyone have an idea why my outdoor photos get this arch of light area? If it matters, I use an a7iii and 70-200mm f/2.8. I only notice it when I'm outdoors.

Try trouble shooting this.

Swap lenses on the same body and see if that still shows. Then try the 70-200 on a different body, if you have access to another one. That will hopefully give you an idea if the problem is with the body or the lens. I honestly can't even guess what it might be, but it looks like a smear on the lens, maybe the back element?

Also try changing apertures and see if that affects it in any way

I've tried two other lenses, and I've wet-cleaned the sensor. It's still there.

OP it looks like a smear on the sensor. I'd try to get it warrantied asap if possible. I assume it's been there from the day you purchased the camera?

I only recently discovered it when shooting an outdoor event. I wet-cleaned the sensor today and looked at it under a loupe. I don't see any smearing. Hopefully Sony can help.

What?? I had a manufacturing flaw on my a6300 and sent it in to get fixed. It took a while to ship it out to whatever facility it gets repaired at, but they did it

Clean your sensor fags have no clue. Try a lens hood. You might be getting a reflection off of one of the inner elements of your lens.

might be a light leak, put your camera inside something light-tight so that only the lens is visible and see if the arc is still there. you can also try to recreate it it with a led light. maybe your lens mount lets in some unwanted light.

Looks to me like the shutter has a little dent or something. That arc is where that dent or missing part of the shutter is moving along.

I’m no fan of Sony, but that’s a problem that can happen to pretty much any camera with a shutter.

If anything, it’s less likely to happen on FE than another mount like RF that leaves the shutter closed when there’s no lens mounted. Shutter blades are delicate.
