>JVC VHS-C>olympus bridge circa 05>a sony vloggie (god damn that thing looked so cool but all the footage out of it was so shitty)>iphone 5s>iphone 6And then I started buying and returning cameras to see what I would personally like. I had no idea what mirrorless was and couldnt really care or understand it besides the fact that mless allowed for faster burst
so I got an a6000, used it for month, returned it, got an a6300, with a rebel t6i on the side, then put in more money into the sony returns and got an a7II to see what all the FF craze was about. Naturally a7II made me hate sony, because after a6300 af points and burst i felt like I downgraded. I didnt hate the rebel and marked canon down as 'that company that lets you take photos exactly as they appear irl, with a low ceiling for creative post editing, whereas sony colors and some popular subtle lightroom presets made my sony footage a bit punchier. I returned everything and got an xt20, which I didnt hate as much as the a7II even though theyre about the same size, the af seemed OKAY, and the film presets were a nice addition. After having t he xt20 for a year now I realize that I would rather own an x100f because i really like the rangerfinder body aesthetic, but my most recent acquisition has been a 77d and some L glass. The fuji has been assigned the role of an artistic camera with a 35 manual prime and some other add ons, while the canon is what gets most of the grunt work done as far as interesting events or bands go.
So back to sony, it seems as though because sony didnt start out in the same shape as nikon and canon, people naturally want to bully it around, for the simple reason that sony mless where its at right now provides a sort of jack of all trades experience. They shook the traditional market a bit with some ballsy stuff (most of which isnt worth the price tag they put on it but i digress) and the overall culture of the board loves a good villain.
