Is it technical limitations in terms of element spacing in the lens case that prohibits motors or is it just a manual focus thing? Granted I have and love my jupiter 50mm 1.5 but 800+ for a manual focus art lens. I hope its sharp below f4

Guessing I might be better off with a cheaper one like a Mitakon 0.95 and auto focus adapter? It isn't that I don't know how to use manual focus, rather I can't be assed to fiddling around with it when all I want to do is make more bokeh in my snapshots

The main issue is that for smaller manufacturers it's not worth the effort to add autofocus, they'd have to either reverse engineer or license the technology for every mount they sell for. Currently when they make manual focus glass they can just make one version and not bother adapting it for different autofocus mounts.

I don't think there's any point in getting an autofocus adapter. Mirrorless cameras have so many manual focus aids that it isn't even something I think about anymore. I don't see how it's "fiddling around" when the focused areas are painted bright red with focus peaking or ultra zoomed in with a split view. They couldn't make it any easier to use manual focus, although I'm a Fuji user so I don't know what other mounts have.

I don't think they can get away with low quality glass and coatings if they are hitting f0.95, it should be fairly expensive just in raw materials.

It's not as simple as buying a piece of glass and slapping it in a metal tube. If you've ever seen lenses being assembled or taken one apart yourself it's pretty complicated design especially for speciality lenses like this. At f0.95 that's a ton of glass packed in there, even if it's a manual focus only lens. It won't cost $20 to make.

The Mitakon lenses are actually really well-designed and assembled to a high standard too so all that research, design and quality focused manufacturing can't be cheap.

Just to explain it for you:
F/2 = fast
F/1.8 = about as fast as consumer glass gets
F/0.95 = absurdly fast
F/0,7 = fastest lense ever made, Zeiss made 10 of them, most owned by NASA, two used by Kubrick to shoot 100 ISO film at 24 fps at candlelight.
The Zeiss Planar F/0,7 50mm is priceless

I know it's a trollpost... but you can't fake bokeh. It is a natural optical thing that's aesthetically pleasing and isn't just a flat blur.

Once a scene is captured in 2D you can't post-process bokeh into it. Any and all attempts will look disgusting and be extremely obvious to anyone who isn't a literal retard.

OP image is unironically accurate. So many people request edits for bokeh in image modification threads and they all end up looking, basically, just like this.

You're really underestimating how good people have gotten at making camera lenses. It's a technology over a century old which is made on the scale of millions each year. Much, much more complicated devices are manufactured every day and sold for just a few dollars. From an engineering perspective a big manual focus camera lens is a cakewalk.
