>>3467072>Canon or Nikon?I say Nikon, for one good reason. let me tell you a story. I was a Canonfag on film, with an AE-1 body; an T-70 body (that built-in power wind and AA batteries); a power wind for the AE-1; 50mm prime, 35mm prime; 100mm prime; a trombone-style zoom (forget the f-lengths) and a Sunpack 4205 flash. Then I was burgled.
When the insurance paid out I decided to go digital, as it was the coming thing. Went to my local camera shop and picked up an early EOS (digital rebel in the USA) and it felt really cheap and plasticky in my hands, as well as unergonomic for my large mitts, as though Canon had forgotten what made the AE-1 great. Picked up the Nikon D70 and it felt well-built, solid and, well, just right. So I bought one (over £1000 back then) with the kit 18-70mm zoom. And this is how I found myself in the Nikon universe.
Would I still make the same decision if I was moving today? Maybe not, but I now have a fair investment in consumer Nikon glass and now have a D3300 as well. Would I go mirrorless? Probably not, because of battery life and the hand size thing. But I like the idea of a small, full featured DSLR that easy to lug on holiday and walks for snapshits (used to have an Olympus XA-1 + flash for pocket fun; now I have a Coolpix)
