>>3481207lol no it's not, it's legitimate advice. even the cheapest used dslr+kit lens combo will give you raw files to work with that are 10x more flexible to work with in post than cellphone jpegs. people will swear up and down that it's not about the gear, and there is truth in that, but for me personally i started enjoying photography much more and shooting much more when i finally bought a dslr (had previously gone with a bridge camera to upgrade from my phone because i didn't know shit about cameras and thought "megapixels and muh big optical zoom number = good camera" and was disappointed by it because it ultimately wasn't very much of a step up in image quality because it also has a tiny shitty sensor like a phone does)
