I'm about to start using some Rollie Inferred 35mm.

Just wondering if anybody has any experience with inferred photography?

I'm going to be using shutter speeds around 5 seconds, does reciprocity failure still effect inferred film?

You won't need that long exposures with Rollei 400IR because it's metered as ISO 25 which is fast enough for handheld speeds in bright daylight which is when you'll want to shoot infrared. You can stack ND filters for long exposures of course, they work just the same as with visible light.

The native ISO of 400IR is 400, which is what you'd use when shooting with visible light. For infrared only you must increase the exposure by about 4 stops, which makes it ISO 25 equivalent. When you use 25 when taking a reading with visible light, you have the approximate correct IR exposure. Likewise when I shot ADOX HR50 (pic related) which is ISO 50, I metered it as ISO 4 for IR exposure.

No problem, have fun. Infrared is great fun in small doses, although it gets tedious if you overdo it because the shooting process is very slow. With a wide aperture lens it's possible to skip a lot of the trouble though because the R72 filter lets a little bit of deep red light through and you can see through the finder if you let your eye to adjust for a second. With 400IR you can shoot at speeds like 1/60 and skip the tripod.

My protip is to use it for very long distance views because IR is much less affected by the atmosphere than visible light, so distant objects that appear hazy and blurry to the naked eye look clear and sharp in IR. This is why IR film was common for aerial photography.

This is the same film at f/4 and 1/30 seconds in bright sunshine (I only shoot in bright sunshine with IR)
My jumpoff point for Rollei400 in bright sun is that f/16 and 1 sec. gives a decent exposure but I can go one stop darker quite comfortably.
You may need to try out a little bracketing to really nail the shots consistently in your own setting, though.

Oh, and it's with an R72 filter.

I'd add a stop of exposure for for 1+s and 2 stops 10s ish but that is a pure guess.

Someone more math than me pls make a non-linear curve or whatever it's called to extend times beyond this. Or whatever power factor can be used.

Is it me or do IR photos give other people the creeps as well? It looks like you're in some uncanny twilight zone, where only the plants look alive and everything is frozen in time.
