First, when my SD is inserted or if I connect via USB, Gdrive creates a temp folder and the upload speed is limited by whatever network you are on. Mine is about 15-20Mbps on wifi. On campus its more like 80-100. The temp folder is dumped if you only wanted to go from SD --> cloud.
Second, I have it check specific folders to constantly update them on the cloud.
It's extremely comfy to have peace of mind that your things, from photos to important info, is backed up.
Wherever Google stores that data, they have redundancy. It's extremely unlikely that that data would be lost.
My catalogs are stored on a fast ssd, the pics are on external drives, and its all backed up on the cloud. No need to make it more complicated than that.
Plus, once its already on drive, it makes it super simple to upload to social media.
