>university decides to have a """Vernissage""" where students can show off their photographies
>they invite only the students who applied as a portrait photographer for the university (they asked for people with good gear and experience)
>please send us 3 favourite pictures of your home town
>hand in 3 kind of random pictures
>show up, prepared to look at awesome photographs and have interesting talks about focal length distortion and macro stitching
>people talking, everybody calls himself a "photographer", nobody but me brought his camera
>see other pictures
>???
>90% smartphone shots
>photos of peoples garden from their window
>blurry shot of a spiderweb, probably thoght it's bokeh, but actually just unfocussed
>can't even remember anything else because all pictures were so forgettable
>someone literally showed off her snapchat filter selfie
>instagram filtered food picture
i'm not trying to gatekeep, but can you call yourself a "photographer" if all you do is snapshit things for social media?
remember, these were students who applied for a job as a portrait photographer, and most of them probably don't even know what aperture is.
pic related, my pictures, no hate please
