Unless you plan to make wall-size physical prints with your images, there's absolutely NO need for full-frame, etc. By far the majority of image these days only end up going as far as the internet.
I've been debating, myself, between this and the P1000. The 900 can be had for about half the price, and the only real, useable advantage (for me personally) is that the P1000 will capture RAW images.
When I'm not working, my "the one you have with you" camera has been the Canon PowerShot SX50 HS, because of its versatility and zoom range. I can literally focus sharply on something that is almost touching the lens, or I can zoom out to the 35mm equivalent of 1200mm.
Bottom line, if RAW isn't important to you, go with the P900 and save yourself $500.
