I see this mistake happen all the time with people when they first get a wide-angle because they think landscape = wide angle.
Then they wonder why their landscapes are so distant, and then read some guides on how to use a wide angle lens, and realize that they need "foreground interest"
But then they spend too much time trying to pick a foreground they miss what actually makes the shot wonderful, and you end up with pictures and guides like pic related
