His comments on the system are also right in line with mine: He's praising it for its light weight and convenience, ease of use, and ok enough quality for printing A3. Not on par with the FF Canon and 600 f/4 it was sitting next to on the ground, but more convenient with a higher chance of capturing a shot, which is the main thing he needs to make quotas and keep his networking on the go.

It's his job, just like I fucking said. Immense pressure to keep those images coming. If it means spray and pray + stacking what are essentially video frames in order to get an image that's acceptable at small size, then so be it. It's a completely different beast than the Canon system; Quantity vs quality.

Literally all that my point was in the previous thread: Technical quality is not as good. Not that it "takes bad photos" or that you can't take good shots with it. That the quality is not on par with his other system and saying that it is would be dishonest.

That's insane contradiction and misconception of reality. Your vision is obviously getting cloudy by your hate. It is nowhere implied that images he gets are of lower quality. He's having smaller cropping window, but that is all. Images being publishable is the highest tier there is in wildlife photography, and he's getting that out of the m43 system. Speed he gets out of it is beneficial only in helping him capture more shots, to have higher end selection. Nobody is sending gazillion of files to his agents anyway, it's always few select shots out of the whole set that get that attention.

The final point I made (in defense of myself over autists calling me jelly and saying "he's a pro so all his shots are amazing") was that no, not all of them are. Some are filler material and shots that I delete. But that's because I don't have to fill quotas. I also said he knows which shots these are because he doesn't post large shots of them or sell them.

Nope, just honest. I don't even have to make this point because we all know the OP in the other thread was just on extreme defense over MFT, not actually defending the photographer.

Anyway, here is an example of a filler shot that I personally would just delete. It's clearly a heavy crop because you can see the aliasing even at 800 pixels wide, on every blade of grass. There is too much dead space in the foreground, and the entire image is in focus because it was shot from much too far away (hence the need to crop). If you think this is an amazing award-winning shot, you have low standards. He has some excellent shots on that page, but also a handful of bad ones. These aren't shots that you should publish, in my opinion.

This image could have been taken with anything including FF. That's not the point and never was. The point is, even pros can take some really shitty shots.

Now it's revealed that he bought the cam out of his own money, and that he's not associated with Olympus. You are the one trying to shift the argument that he's getting lower quality images that what he'd get out of a FF body.

I don't see it. Nether does his agent, him, or his publishers. I don't see any reason why perceived image quality would be a problem here. Why would he be shooting the system then? He's professional wildlife photographer. Even if he's not Canon ambassador anymore, he could still use FF cameras and large lenses if he chose to do so. His name and livelihood depends on quality output, afterall.

I just find it amusing how quickly ff hypocrites start attacking someone that argues that format is not as important as they think it is.

I said if he is going to directly compare MFT+300mm lens and and FF+600mm lens and say they were virtually the same, then he was either blind or lying. Or prone to hype, which is just how social media works. I also said that either system with a TC isn't very good, and he is using teleconverters.

Arguing over sensor size is retarded. Your threads are pure bullshit, and posting them only make you look desperate and retarded. You spread misinformation and are part of what makes this board so shitty for people trying to learn anything. Here's the reality of the situation: All systems are capable of producing great shots, but they all have their strengths and weaknesses.

MFT+300mm benefits = smaller and lighter, more forgiving DOF. This makes it easier to get shots for a multitude of reasons.
FF+600mm benefits = better technical quality, twice the focal length. Much more demanding and harder to get results with, but ultimately capable of higher technical quality.

Other facts:

Smaller sensor = smaller field of view, not magnification. The only "extra reach" from a smaller sensor is the density of its photocells /photosites. Compare it to a FF of twice the resolution. In other words, the one and only technical (not practical as in weight or ease of use) "advantage" of a smaller sensor isn't even exclusive to smaller sensors. You can make a FF sensor just as dense, or moreso and then guess what? You have more or better reach, plus more field of view.

Try being honest with yourself. I am. After seeing Andy Rouse's blog post that you posted in your OP, it's obvious that he is too:

He's using MFT for wildlife because it's easier, not because it's technically on par with or better than FF. Makes sense, because it is time consuming as fuck and it is his profession.

Sharpening is more of a post-processing issue than an in-camera issue, unless he's applying the sharpening to the RAWs in-camera, these shouldn't be indicative of actual results.

That said, I don't even fully agree; it's one of the strongest shots from his new system. Looking back at his Twitter, I still see a hell of a lot of heavy cropping and over sharpening going on though. My overall opinion hasn't changed regarding filler material. Also, he just posted an incredible shot of an owl that has been ruined by the sensor, to the point of looking like a literal oil painting. I would be close to tears from frustration if I took that, and I am not exaggerating.

Forgive me for laughing at that blind swing in the dark. The way he composed that shot is exactly how I would have composed it, and have composed these:

It's mainly dependent on which way the subject is looking, and what's in the background. If I have to center the subject to avoid ugly bokeh or prevent an imbalanced look, I will.

It isn't pixel peeping if it's being viewed at the intended display resolution. It's called looking at the photograph as intended. Ideally, no major issues should be prevalent. If it's bad at 500px, it's very bad.

Andy Rouse takes some excellent shots. He also takes some shitty ones... everyone does. I just think he has a self-curation problem and feels the need to post as much as possible. You're certainly exhibiting some bad practice of late, with ugly blown out foregrounds that have no place in high end photography, fried white backgrounds, and plain wrong focal ranges as those in your deer attempts. I was dismissing m43 until recently for birbing. One look at their main message board was enough, but apparently things have changed recently. You obviously still have dads with cams posting shitty crops like on every other forum, but you've clearly some fantastic quality amongst it. Wasn't sure what was the cause of it. I mean bodies some people use are old as fuck, and sensors on them as well. The reason is that people have finally bought the top lenses. 300mm f4 apparently is world class. Then there's some panasonic-leica zoom 400mm. Before that they had at most two 300mm zooms that were slow and soft.

Found similar example. Dad is editing with paintshop, is shooting with some tc to be at 840mm, 1/250s, and it's razor sharp on a tinny bird. For all I know handheld, these fuckers have it too easy. With proper editing you could bring a ton out of it. Now, I'm sure system has drawbacks, but damn me, what I'm seeing is very impressive out of the system.

Looks to me like OP is frustrated because he is terrible at wildlife and is hoping that a smaller sensor and larger dof is going to save him. He's in for a rude awakening. As for Andy Rouse, his standards have fallen through the floor. These are all false dichotomies. The argument was never m43 vs ff. The argument is that m43 is a dead system. It was designed when sensor manufacturing was the limiting design criterion wrt cost. Sensors are cheap to manufacture, and you can get ff or apsc systems with better iq that aren't much bigger. Both pentax and fuji offer rugged weather sealed and fairly compact (moreso fuji) kit, without any additional cost to the customer compared to m43

Hand holding at longer reaches means you can do max zoom without a monopod, that can easily be the difference of catching a moment or missing it.
And it's lighter, if you ever held 600mm, you'd know it's heavy. You can be a hulk, but kilos will still show. Holding it is fatiguing and carnying is just as much. Someone with a lighter system will move further, be quieter, and be able to work for longer. Again giving you opportunities that are impossible with larger, heavier gear.

You cannot. The physics of scanning the lines of a large sensor are different than when using a smaller sensor. It is literally a more intensive a process to shoot off dozens of exposures on a larger sensor than it is on a smaller sensor. Keeping a larger sensor active is also harder. It requires more power and more engineering in the cooling solution. There are so many physical difficulties to extreme multiple exposure photography that a large sensor is a hindrance.

It's clear you can use analogies to anything you want. I quite like v8 vs v4 engine. It's actually valid somewhat. V8 will be larger than V4, but V4 will allow for more tech to be filled alongside it. Hybrid system, turbo, and it'll be lighter. Someone will prefer direct power naturally aspirated engine provides, while someone else will prefer lightness and nimbleness of a smaller engine.

You don't have 2x tc for 200m f2. And tc aren't just increasing f's, they're softening output as well, to a degree where you may even get sharper picture by not using it and just upscaling lower res image. That's very prevailing with certain 2x tc, so they're often avoided by pros.

Also forgetting excellent Leica 200mm f/2.8, and Olympus 40-150mm f/2.8, that both have 2x tc. Fuji is still missing that constant aperture zoom, but 200 f2 is step in right direction. Not going to catch m43, since Olympus already has 150-400mm f/4.5 in the pipelines, but good enough for fighting Sony and new entries in mirrorless market that are without native telephotos.

Only one dumb here is you. TC's have compatibility issues. They're often made for few specific lenses. 200mm f2 is not compatible by Fujis 2x.

Fuji themselves are not listing 200mm f2 as supported lens with any of their released tc's. What more do you need? You really can't be that dumb... TC must be designed for a lens. If lens is too fast for it, it won't work properly. Basic optics.

You can only use supported lenses on teleconverter. In some case it's actually impossible to use a teleconverter on an unsupported lens as it is physically impossible.

m43 guy is correct. You are very wrong. Look at supported lenses for fuji teleconverters, that's all there is to it.

Shot from too far away as well. That always makes for a flat image. The kinds of people who buy mft for wildlife are the ones who are unable to get close, so it is compounded. You end up with paper flat crops with no detail or soul 99% of the time.
