>>3498831Well neither will zoom as much as your kit lens. That's what a prime lens is. One that doesn't zoom. The focal length stamped on it is what you get, period. Tape the zoom ring on your kit lens to the 35 or 85 setting if you want to get a feel for it.
Now. Both will be very sharp. Especially closed down to f/4 or f/5.6 or so. Will they be noticeably sharper than your kit lens? Well, that depends on the aperture you're shooting at and what you're doing in post and especially how much you care about the area away from the center. The prime lenses will be measurably better. But a faster lens means precise focus is more important, and you have a body with no AF fine-tune. Are you shooting raw? what are you doing for sharpening in post? How about the ISO? Higher ISO settings mean more noise, and more noise reduction means less-sharp images.
I'm not saying don't buy them, those are both good lenses. I'm saying think about how you're going to harness what they can do.
>>3498833I own a Lowepro flipside 400AW and a Nikon 200-500/5.6. That's about the smallest bag that can fit that lens (with a body attached) comfortably, in my opinion. It's also close to the largest bag that'll fit into airline carry-on restrictions, by the way, which was a big factor in my getting it. The laptop sleeve is useless unless you have an ultra-thin macbook and the idea that you'll unzip the pack while the chest strap holds it to you is kind of a meme, I found I had to take the thing off completely to get into it. Those complaints said, though, it wasn't that expensive and it holds stuff well. and in a modular fashion, you can carry more than just a telephoto. Overall I recommend it.
