Housing market will never become affordable for newcomers, it's a pyramid scheme. Gentrificating the ghettos is the only way, maybe when you're old they have become somewhat nice and your kids or grandkids can inherit your home without having to start from even more distant ghetto.

Hawaii is alright. Oahu is developed so city stuff in Honolulu is decent but the rural and country side is where it's at. The other islands are not developed so its much better for landscape and beach stuff.

Also cost of living is really high. But I am born and raised here so I'm used to it and spoiled by how cheap things are when I go to the mainland.

Planning to get a co-op job here with the intent to move and live there after graduation. Perfect hub for exploring SE Asia for vacations. Seriously my favourite sliver of the world.

I can definitely see it being a bit boring to live in though. At least you have absolutely delicious food from some of the best food cultures in the world.

Here's a snap from where I live. Halifax, NS. It's a Canadian port city way out on the Eastern fringe of N. America (beyond eastern time zone). Only moved here a year ago. I move a fair bit so I'm not really "from" anywhere.
