If you pay thousands of dollars for Alpha body, you should know that you must still spend few times more for lenses. Those things are not meant for people with tight budgets.

I think Nikon has a 35mm f1.8 for crop sensors, a f1.4 FX (the expensive one) and a f2 for FX

Who are you even quoting? I'm going to guess it's one of the best such lenses again, rather than some budget lens.

If it doesn't beat the Sigma Art and such comparably priced lenses, it'll simply drop in price.

Well, if it is actually not so good you will merely have to pick the Sigma Art or such instead. Pretty simple. And I'll probably be with you in complaining about this lens.

But I have hopes this one will be really good. More than just a few other Sony lenses have been.

Personally I'm not sure I even need a better 35mm than the Samyang f/2.8 or even the Tamron 28-75 right now.

But I'd possibly go for the Sony, simply because adding the heavy Sigma Art to the bag for a focal length that I am not THAT fond of might not be the thing I prefer to do.

The difference between the a7rIII and the a7rIV is a slightly bigger grip and maybe one extra button
What they should do is go for a new design language altogether like they did with their Xperia phones
Give us a mirrorless body that looks like a shrunken down A900 or a shrunken down Maxxum 9, with more buttons and a design and look that actually screams "workhorse".

no they really just need a taller grip. nikon and canon have the right idea but the grip needs to be raised to be level with the EVF top.

even when they raise the grip to EVF height the grip will still be shorter than FF DSLR grips. they don't even need to make the camera wider since a taller grip naturally gives more room for your fingers to hug the grip closer and prevent pinching from giant lenses.
