>>3504098>the reset time between shutter movements or w/e and how many shots you can get in a burst? Would the fix for that be a new body?If we look at this question separately (I already answered the lens, it's not ENTIRELY related in that way although I guess you have to consider exposure time too if you want really fast bursts), yes you also need a faster body for that.
The shutter and the sensor bandwidth on the D3100 don't allow for long fast bursts.
> I'm sorta on a budget since I do the photgraphy stuff for fun and playing the sports I photograph is my main hobby and the gear costs associated with those on a yearly basis already make me cry. I guess it's not entirely a throwaway expense for most of us, but on the bright side you'll probably get 5-10 years of good pictures out of good gear, rather than so many fucking missed shots that you really wanted to be good.
Dropping that money for a better camera is unfortunately a compromise I can only recommend to make.
> Also what do you mean by APS-C lens?I confused the lens you want with an APS-C lens too - I guess it's a FF lens. Still, caveats the same as pointed out before by me and the other anon.
>>3504107And they'd be some of the best options, but to my best knowledge they also AF even worse on the D3100's anyhow not terribly great AF system. Last time I checked, they didn't really have a good chance to shoot moving people unless you MF only (which also is hard on a D3100 with no focus peaking and no actually reliable "dot" indicator)... but I guess that was a while ago.
