>>3513746The image quality is quite good for a compact camera with APS-C sensor. I do carry mine just about every day.
The lens at f/2 is soft; it sharpens up by f/2.8, which is what I use for shallow depth of field portraits. Between f/2.8 and f/11 is all uniformly sharp and impressive and I usually shoot f/4 for snapshit.
I shoot jpg, and peoples' skin does get a waxy appearance due to the noise reduction method. In the camera settings I turned the Noise Reduction to -3, and this problem goes away completely. The X-Trans sensor has very pleasant/unobtrusive noise anyway; I can often shoot at high ISO without any need for NR.
Battery life is very acceptable. I keep the camera off most of the time, turn it on when I see a shot, take it, then turn it off. I use the EVF pretty much exclusively and have the camera power mode as "high-performance", and it still is at ~85% when I get home.
The fact that I can charge it through micro USB without a proprietary charging cable is super useful. I usually just carry an extra micro USB to USB cable coiled up in a pocket, and can charge it off any PC or with my phone charger block. No battery anxiety; I only carry one battery.
