When people are struggling with their thousands of followers and I've "made it" with a few dozen is all that i need to see to say, instagram is worthless.It's not necessarily the hard way. Like I live in a decent sized market, but one that's still a bit slow to adapt to tech, so my geotags plus being just a competent photographer alone have pulled me a lot of business through instagram. I only have about 1100 followers because I don't bother gaming the system, but I have a not insignificant amount of money from just around 5 minutes a day, and it's 5 minutes I actually enjoy because I do actually interact with people.
Outside of the local scene, I've been approached by two mid-market publications because they saw my work on instagram.
There's kinda two different instagrams:
>thots and pictures of food>visual artists and people in the business of visual artsPursuing the former is dumb, even if you're a hot chick (just stream on twitch for easier money). The latter on the other hand is worthwhile becoming a part of.
