That's ok. Don't bother with polarizers on ultra wide angle lenses. I think anything under 16mm is already seeing that effect. Maybe even as much as 20mm. It also depends on how much polarization you dial in.

This depends entirely on the conditions and sun position. You can still get good use with polarizer, even on ultra wides. Besides, it's fixable.

The amount of Polarisation is dependent upon your angle to the sun, some animals use it to navigate because it's a good way to tell North/South

It seems like one way to mitigate this is to take several shots from a tripod at different polarization positions, and combine them in post. It would be a pain in the ass, but if you're going through the trouble of hauling a gigantic fucking 145mm polarizer then the shot is probably important enough to you.

What do you need a polarizer for anyways, OP?

Depending on the camera body used, if it's something like a Nikon D800 you can honestly probably just use one exposure and push sliders a lot in post. But otherwise you just get dark blobs in the sky like >>3511204 shows.

Reflections (non metallic) are what polarisers are for. From water to leaves in the rain. Most people use them to reduce reflections but you can use them for increasing reflections. Useful for architecture.

im not sure that i do. im going to ride a motorcycle through some mountains in southeast asia and i want to photograph some of the hillsides and valleys with a 14mm lens.

ive been playing with a cheap polarizer for my 50mm and it makes my pictures of leaves and shit look much better. its like magic or something

I'm aware of this. But you still need to he standing at a 90 degree angle to the sun for it to work well, and it's still not as effective the wider you go, unless you get really close.

the only time you need a polarizer on an UWA below like 24mm is to remove reflections on subjects in scenes where the sky isn't visible. you're committing photographic seppuku using UAW on landscapes with polarizer below 24 and even 28mm in some scenes.

Nope, to e-mount.

The flange distance is shorter on e-mount so you have space to play with, which is why you can put the polarizer before the lens yet keep infinity focus.
