The OP image is all kinds of weird in the exif though. But it's not really a recent image, one of the first I took with this camera (note the 1600 ISO for no reason), it's just recently edited

I get the distinct feeling that the construction is going to fall on the person, feels very top heavy

I think it's really interesting though and I love the colour and grain. You'd think the subject matter was too busy but the trees behind just blend together really well and the people and the way they're dressed gives it an old-timey quality somehow

Makes me just wait for the sitting white shirt fella to pick up a tennis racket

Also the raw image sizes are significantly smaller than the jpeg ones
The jpeg at xfine is coming out at 15-20mb while the raw is at 300kb

You probably have settings applied to edit your image in camera, which only works when you shoot jpeg. Raw holds more data and doesnt get edited and tends to look darker and dull.

I don’t think that they’re being compressed, I’m not sure if that’s even possible
I just take it in raw with the same settings as I have when shooting in jpeg and transfer it to my phone like I do with the jpegs using the app

No clue. You're probably using the play memories app. I havent used that since I had an a6000. I move my files the old way. Your ARW files cant be read and posted on most places as well. You have to have a program to format them into jpeg.

In your situation you're better off shooting jpeg until you're willing to put in the extra work that shooting raw takes.

If you upload from camera to phone I'm assuming you have instagram so snapsneed and all that sort of stuff is more than enough for a normal shooter.

I have a million shots like this, they always look boring and unexciting. In your case, exposure also seems pretty off. I guess you want to go for a silhouette look, but for that it is much too busy and just looks like a bunch of leaves.

Just cutting out a bit of the leaves at the bottom makes it nicer already, but it's just not a very interesting subject or framing.

I have no knowledge of color manipulation but that is on a long list to improving my skillset. It's on Oahu and the area is the westernmost part of the island in Waianae. Caught the sunset. I got more shots but I didn't get around to export them.
